Setting a Default Site Language

Modified on Mon, 30 Mar, 2020 at 12:48 AM

Overview

If you're building a website in a language other than English, the Site Language feature allows you to translate certain elements into your target language. Simply select your target language and the built-in text on several widgets will be translated into your target language automatically. The widget text has been pre-translated and cannot be customized.

This feature should not be mistaken for the Multi-Language feature, which translates all text on the website using Google Translate. When Multi-Language is enabled, the default site language is set automatically and changes to the default language must be set via the Multi-Language feature

Guide

Click Settings in the left menu.

Click Site Language.

Considerations

  • The Site Language feature is not the same as the Multi-Language feature, which translates all text on a site using Google Translate. If Multi-Language is already activated, the Site Language tab will be inactive.

  • This feature only translates the texts listed above. These texts cannot be edited.

  • Some widgets let you choose a widget language in the Content Editor (e.g Business Hours, Cookie Notifications). If you selected a language for the widgets, they will remain in the selected language until you change the Site Language.
